Another re-fronted commercial wig.

I finished this one a while back, not sure why I never posted images.  This was a commercial synthetic lace front wig, but I hated the knotting at the hairline.  I removed the old stiff monofilament and added my own, better quality lace.

Despite being synthetic, I think this wig has an amazingly natural look.  This was achieved by using a lighter density and cross-ventilating the front.  I also used a lighter blend of hair along the front edge and at the temples, giving the wig a very natural sun-kissed look.

  1. You did this synthetic wig justice. what do you mean you 'cross ventilated"? This is not reverse ventilation. Did you ventilate one row left, the next row right?

    1. Thank you! Yes exactly - there is an illustration of cross-ventilation in one of my previous posts, but it's exactly as you described it.

    1. Hi, thanks for your interest. Unfortunately I can't offer to make a piece for you - I only do the wig making part time so unfortunately I'm unable to take custom orders at the moment. However there are numerous companies online that would be able to custom make something. Do you mind if I ask why specifically you're interested in synthetic hair? Most of the companies I'm aware of don't offer the heat-resistant synthetic hair that I use, and if you are going for an all synthetic piece I would definitely recommend heat resistant hair. However, I think you would have better results ordering real hair because the knots can be bleached. The knotting that is typical of the Chinese factories, where most of the hairpieces are made, isn't good enough for synthetic hair. Even if I were to make one, I would recommend human hair with bleached knots for the front hairline.

  3. Very nice! The latest piece I'm working on I'm doing darker blonde around the outer part to match my existing hair and in the center lighter blonde to give it a sun kissed look as well. I'm also going to put a honey blonde streak in the front. It's synthetic this time around so no dyeing.

I'm currently suffering from shingles and wouldn't you know it, mine is near the outer part of my eye and way up on my forehead, under my wig. I have had to take my wig off and don't know when I'll be able to put it back on. I'm avoiding the public and wearing a bandana until this goes away.
