Small front partial piece

I haven't had time to do much ventilation lately, but I just completed knotting this small front partial piece.  It is fully single strand/single knotted, and is cross-ventilated to add some lift.  I used #16 Brazilian hair from YYhair.

The density is higher than I would normally like, but this piece was made to replace the hairline on an existing topper which is quite dense, so I tied the hair using one knot per hole, with slight graduation at the hairline.

The hair will finally be dyed to match and attached to the existing piece.

    1. Thanks Vince! It would actually be simper just to make a diagram showing the theory. I will try to do that later today and make a new post.

  2. Great work, Dave. Is there anything else at this point that you think you need to or want to learn pertaining to the technique of wigmaking, other than being able to properly cut/style the pieces.

    1. Thanks! To be honest, I still feel like I'm only scratching the surface. I think I'm pretty confident with my knotting, but just about everything else still needs work. Immediate goals are learning more about bleaching/dyeing/perming hair, and improving the way I make my foundations.

    1. They sell the standard 'Brazilian' hair that is everywhere on eBay etc. It's nothing special, but it is fine for the price. I always find it looks better after one or two good washes with a clarifying shampoo to remove whatever coating they put on it.

One thing that I don't like about it is that it smells like wet dog when you wet it. I'm not sure what chemicals they use to process it, but they should figure that out! The smell goes away after repeated washings, but it's not very pleasant!

As far as longevity though, I don't have any problem with it. I used it for the front of a top piece that was worn every day for about 9 months, and the hair still looked as good on day 250 as it did on day 1.

  4. Oh, the standard stinky hair from china aliexpress vendors. I can't cope with that, repeated washings or not. I received hair once, not this vendor, but from china that made me cough when I opened the bag and everytime I handled it so in the trash it went. Love your hairlines...
