I finally finished knotting the topper that I have been working on, and I thought I would post a few pics. I'm very happy with this one!
This is a high definition piece — all single strand/single knot. Also, the entire piece is cross-knotted, which I think gives an amazingly natural, realistic look.
It is all synthetic except for the front inch or so, where I used Brazilian hair so that the knots could be bleached. I need to touch up the colour of the real hair so that it blends better into the darker, more ashy synthetic.
I have done a preliminary cut-in at this point, but the cut still needs some finessing. Overall, though, I think this one is a winner!
This is an amazing piece and is making me so excited for my hair to arrive so I can start my first piece!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Good luck with your first piece! Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, I'm happy to help if I can!
DeleteBTW did you order some of that hair from Aliexpress? I'm interested to know what you think of it when it arrives!
DeleteI will yes, I'm waiting on money to transfer into my account at the moment, then I will. They actually got more colors in of the 120g hair pieces like you showed me of the blonde, so I'll be ordering a few colors of those if they stay in stock. And I'll def tell you what I think. :D
DeleteGreat! I noticed that they seem to sell the same 120g hairpieces for lower prices, depending on which listing you choose on their site. Seems strange, but make sure you order the cheaper ones!
Deletelooks great as usual
DeleteThanks Vince! :D
DeleteHey man, we've talked before. this is similar to coolpiece units....their default is single strand, single knots all over...i've ordered units for clients from them before...a full cap of 10 inch hair, whatever base you want is a little more than 400. I don't actually wear yet, but my hairline is thinning, so I plan to make myself a small partial to start with. I got interested in lace wigs and pieces because i'm a stylist, and am known as pretty good with weaves and such, so I had two people with alopecia referred to me. I take their measurements, order their wigs, and cut and style them. I've made one, but wasn't satisfied with the results, but I've gotten better with knotting since then:)
DeleteHey, glad to hear you're still working on the ventilating! It does take time to figure out what will give the best final result. It has honestly taken me about three years to finally figure out what works best for me, so definitely keep experimenting!
DeleteGreat to know about Coolpiece! Their results definitely look good on the site, and their prices are very good if they are selling single strand pieces!
I came across your blog from hairlosshelp forum and it was a God sent! I'm a 25 yo guy that wears a wig everyday and I've been scammed so many times online when I bought a wig and they look so bad I'm terrified of visiting my family because I know they know I wear a wig (they knew me previously to me wearing it) and I bought the supplies to make a hair piece with lace and the needle but I didn't know how to even tie the knot. Your posts have made me SO HAPPY!! You have no idea it's given me so so so much hope!
ReplyDeleteThank you thank you thank you! Please don't ever take your videos down and hope you keep updating this is the best thing ever
Hey, that's great! I'm so happy that this has helped and given you hope! Contact me any time if you have questions or if I can help in any way - hairsy514@gmail.com. I can also recommend a couple of great suppliers that sell reasonably priced wigs and hairpieces, and won't rip you off, if that would help at all. But making your own hair can be fun and rewarding too, I'm happy to help in any way! Best of luck with your knotting and hair-wearing, please keep me updated! :)
DeleteHello there,
ReplyDeleteAmazing it looks. am a total novice in this .could you please guide me step by step on how to approach this hair system thing. Am thinning rapidly and hair transplantation doesnt suit me either.
its for Indian Hair!
pls help me guru.
HAHA thanks! I'm no guru, I'm still learning myself! I would actually prefer to keep this blog about wig making rather than about wearing hair systems, so my advice to you would be to make use of the hair loss forums as much as you can. They are full of great information, and have answers to all your questions.
DeleteIn addition to the Hairlosshelp forum, I would recommend checking out http://www.network54.com/Forum/678938/ and http://www.toplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=3
Best of luck!
If I am successful in this venture, I promise , will send you a crate full of beer mate..tks
DeleteGreat work!!! What is cross knotted? XP
ReplyDeleteThank you! Cross knotting / cross ventilation / 2-way knotting means that the hair is tied in two different directions, so on alternating rows the knots will be on a different side of the hole.
DeleteHey Dave, this is amazing! Im really interested in make my own pieces.. do you think this can be done with a fullcap? Do you mind to send your email to me, so we can share some ideas? Im Brazilian and my email is reidoschurros@gmail.com. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteWho would guess synthetic hair can look so good, even when you add in a bit of human hair, still the synthetic does not look cheaply.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the new synthetic hair is amazing, and it blends incredibly well with human hair!
DeleteWhere is this synthetic purchased from great natural appearance.

ReplyDeleteI have tried several different types of the high-heat synthetic hair, and this is by far the best I have seen. I buy it on Aliexpress as clip-in hair extensions:

I always wear and make my own wigs. Wigs are protective hairstyles to me... My hair grew so long and healthy by wearing wigs.. https://youtu.be/xv3VOTj4ZBc
