Blonde, continued...

Just a few shots to show the progress of the blonde synthetic wig.  It's coming along well, and a bit quicker now that I'm knotting in a clear open space on top rather than trying to dodge seams and darts!

I have decided I will continue to ventilate all the way to the top seam before changing the fronting lace.

    1. Thank you, Lidia! It's true, information is hard to find! I have never bought European hair for the reasons you mentioned. This wig is synthetic, and I buy Brazilian remy hair on eBay if I want real hair.

The only places I know that sell European hair are:

      http://www.royer.co.uk in England or
      http://www.demeobrothers.com in the USA.

      Good luck!

    1. I tried to message you back on YouTube, you didn't get it? I can't reply as hairsay514 but I thought I was able to reply as Dave Smith... but I guess you didn't get it. :(

I added you to my 'circles' on Google+ so hopefully that will help... if not, there is always email - hairsay514@gmail.com.

I really hate YouTube/Google+ right now...

  3. Do you sell these? I'm a woman, and I really want a hairline piece as I can't afford a transplant right now (I have a naturally high hairline) and I just don't know what to do at this point. Is there a place you know that will sell the hairline frontal piece from the post you made? :)

    Thanks love

    1. I don't sell them unfortunately, I'm just doing this as a hobby so don't get enough time to work on them!

The only place I know of that specifically sells frontal pieces is www.superhairpieces.com, but any of the hair replacement companies will be able to make a custom piece for you if you can provide them with a template, or if you feel comfortable cutting down a larger piece to fit. Have a look at www.northwestlace.com as well, or just google hair replacement and you should find a number of online suppliers. Best of luck, if there's anything I can do to help with the process, please let me know!

    2. Here's the link to the frontals. They sell them as men's frontals, but there's no reason they wouldn't work for women as well:

    3. Thank you! I was also wondering, do you think I would be able to make these myself and get a realistic looking hairline? or would I be better off just buying one? Also, if I were to glue it to my forehead, would it look fake compared to the rest of my hair? Like if I were to do a middle part and such would it look realistic? Sorry for all these questions! Thank you so much!

    4. No problem, I'm happy to help if I can!

You should definitely be able to make them yourself and achieve a really good result, probably better than any you could buy online. However, it's not something that you can just whip off in an evening, it takes a lot of time and patience, not to mention practice! I have been ventilating for more than 2 years, and I still consider myself a beginner!

I would suggest buying one to start with, and working on your own pieces at the same time. That way you have something to compare it to, and you will be able to see what needs to be improved.

The key to a realistic result is matching the colour, texture and density of your own hair. You also need a fine lace that will disappear on your skin, and depending on the colour of your hair, you might need to bleach the knots so that they are invisible on your scalp. However, if the piece is well-made and well-attached, it will look completely realistic and undetectable.

  4. In your situation it would probably be better to have a piece custom made for the area you want to add hair to. The shapes of those small pieces would be too receded for a woman's hairline. Here is a video that shows you how to make a basic template. It looks a bit odd, but it is all the factory will need so that they can make a piece to exactly fit the area:

A look like the one in your photo is possible, but can be difficult to maintain since the hairline is completely exposed. Also, being pulled back in a tight ponytail like that would put a lot of pressure on the attachment and it could cause the front to lift more quickly. Something like these would be better:

If you'd like to contact me directly via email, you can do so at hairsay514@gmail.com. It's a bit of a hassle typing in this little box... :)

  5. Thank you! I wouldn't style it like that all the time I was just more referring to the shape of the hairline, I plan on just doing loose ponytails, center parting, things of that nature! :) Do you know any companies that I can order my piece from but more catered towards woman? I appreciate your help so much you have no idea, I'll email you if I have any more questions, you're right this little box is a hassle!

  6. Ah OK, then you should be fine! :) There are LOTS of companies who cater for women's wigs, but I'm not sure if they would do the type of partial that you're looking for.

If you're OK ordering from China, there are lots of companies on Aliexpress that do custom hairpieces. However, it's not always easy to get through the language barrier.

You could try http://www.zarawigs.com or http://www.rpgshow.com, but I'm not sure if they will have what you need. I would also definitely recommend contacting http://www.northwestlace.com. They do cater mostly to men, but their owner Eric is very helpful and would definitely be able to make suggestions and help you decide what will work for you. They have a great forum too that you can access through their website that is full of helpful ideas.

Other than that, just try googling things like hair replacement, lace frontal, lace wigs, etc.

  7. dave, what kind of synthetic hair is that, and where did you buy it from? I think I saw this wig in one of your videos, where you keep combing that wig. I forgot the title though.

    1. You're right, it's the same wig as in the video. This is heat resistant hair that I bought on eBay. The brand is s-noilite, and you can actually buy directly from them at www.s-noilite.com. Oddly though they don't seem to have as large a colour selection as the eBay sellers that sell their hair.

However, I have since found hair on Aliexpress that I love even more. It is fine and very realistic, and they carry an amazing selection of colours. I would love to find the original manufacturer of this hair, but in the meantime this is where I buy it from:
